Benjamin Outram 1764-1805: An Engineering Biography, Merton Priory Press, 2000, pp340.  M/M.  New.  A definitive biography of a major canal engineer.  After serving under William Jessop, Outram went on to act for the Derby, Nottingham and Nutbrook Canals in the East Midlands, the Ashton, and Peak Forest canals in the North West, the Huddersfield Canal across the Pennines and the Brecknock & Abergavenny Canal in South Wales.  He was also responsible for many horse-worked plateways and established the famous Butterley Iron Company.  Still available at the pre-publication price: £19.95
