Information Concerning Courses in Railway Engineering and Administration, University of Illinois, USA, June 1913, pp15.  VG-.  The middle four pages have worked loose and have been re-stapled at the top only.  An unusual illustrated booklet describing the courses offered in Railway Engineering by the University of Illinois prior to WWI.  The equipment illustrated includes a dynamometer car and a stationary locomotive testing plant.  £2.50

Lewis, Robert G  The Handbook of American Railroads, Simmons-Boardman, USA, 2nd edition 1956, pp251.  Inscription and an address stamp from City Model & Toys, Liverpool.  Hb. No dw.  VG- with light rubbing to the covers at the top & base of the spine and to the bottom corners. "Written to provide a single source of facts and information on each of the 113 Class 1 railroads." In 1956 the total mileage of these railways was 224,838, about 96% of the American total.  An illustration, map and operating statistics are provided for each railway.  £8.50

Link, O Winston  America's Last Steam Railroad: Steam Steel & Stars, Abradale Press, 1998, pp144.  Very Large Format Hb.  VG+/VG.  Small internally repaired tear at the foot of the spine.  An American classic, first published in 1987, featuring Winston Link's famous pictures of the final years of steam operation on the Norfolk and Western, with text tracing the history of the Norfolk and Western by Tim Hensley.  £18.50

Locomotive Laboratory (The), University of Illinois, USA, November 1915, pp18.  Pb.  Some rust on the staples else VG.  An illustrated booklet describing the stationary locomotive testing plant at the University of Illinois.  Opened in 1913, the stationary testing plant was capable of absorbing a drawbar pull as high as 125,000 pounds.  Churchward installed a similar plant at Swindon in 1904.  £3.95

Purdom D S  British Steam on the Pampas: The Locomotives of the Buenos Aires Great Southern Railway, MEP, 1977, pp118.  Glazed Boards.  Very Good.  Spine of covers sunned. Until after WWII most Argentinean Railways were British owned. This book tells the story of one of these lines, the Buenos Aires Great Southern Railway, with an emphasis on the locomotive history.  £7.50
